Online Learning

March 26, 2020

Dear Belpre Families:

Thank you for your patience and support while we have worked behind the scenes to get everything ready for on-line learning to begin next week.  Our teachers have worked tirelessly this week to learn best practices and prepare to support your family remotely.  As we begin this new chapter we would ask for your continued understanding while we iron out problems that are sure to happen as we try something different.  First, as a reminder, please have Blizzard Bag assignments completed and transmitted to your child’s teacher by this Friday, March 27th.  Beginning March 30th, new learning will begin and our teachers will begin utilizing online platforms to facilitate learning at home. Each teacher has been asked to use Google Classroom as a homebase for all learning. Many of them have already added your child to their classes and other teachers may invite you with a unique code.  Step by step directions have been linked here for you.  We strongly encourage parents of elementary students to join their classroom’s Classroom Dojo app so that they can stay in touch with the teacher.  If you haven’t heard from your student’s teacher by Monday please send them an email so they can contact you.  Email addresses for faculty members can be found on our website or on our app available in the Apple or Android store.  All students will need to have a device and internet access to complete tasks.  If you need a device and did not pick up one during the scheduled times, please contact your child’s principal.  Free internet is being provided by both Suddenlink and Spectrum for up to 60 days.  In addition, our WiFi can be accessed in our school building parking lots if needed.

It is important that you support your child in completing their work.  Tasks that are being given to your child should be both age and developmentally appropriate.  Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions that you may have.  Everyone at Belpre City Schools has been working hard to make learning from home as successful as possible.  It is our hope that each child gets to enjoy being in the comfort and safety of home all while being taught by their favorite teachers via video chat, email, etc. The Ohio Department of Education has also created tips to help support your child during this time; these have been linked here for you.

More now than ever before, thank you for supporting your child’s educational journey with us. As a reminder, we will continue to serve lunch and breakfast daily at both schools from 11:00 – 11:30 and at designated stops throughout town.  Our cooks, paraprofessionals and bus drivers have worked hard to make this as convenient and safe for you as possible.  We hope to see you there.

Stay healthy and well. We are in this together!

Jeffrey S. Greenley
