Thank you to everyone who attended our Virtual Townhall on Monday - at peak we had nearly 300 families participating on Facebook and YouTube! We appreciated the great questions and civility on display during our meeting. We have created a document with Answers to Unasked Questions found in Facebook comments so that families can have the answers that they need as they weigh their decision. You can access that document at https://5il.co/iszh. We anticipate having another Virtual Townhall on Monday, August 10 to announce additional details and take additional questions. We greatly appreciate your feedback as we continue to craft the best possible school year experience for your student!

We failed to communicate clearly yesterday that as part of the reopening we have pushed back the start of school to August 24, 2020. BHS and BES are going to bring back certain groups of students each day to acclimate before all students will return - we will have more details on that in early August.

Earlier this afternoon Gov. Mike DeWine announced the state's guidelines for the safe return of students in the fall. We are grateful to him and other state leaders for the amount of flexibility and discretion he is giving to local officials. To that end, we have been working closely with local public health officials and the other county school districts for several weeks to brainstorm and discuss our plan. We hope to have more information to share with our families in the next two weeks.

The most recent update from census.gov shows that around 67% of Belpre has responded to the census so far this year. The next phase of census collection is to send workers door-to-door to collect information which is not ideal given the current COVID-19 pandemic. If you have not already do so, please visit https://2020census.gov/ and take a few minutes to complete the survey! Our school district depends on federal money that is allocated based on census results and Ohio is at risk of losing a congressional representative if we are undercounted.
