Big opening night win for our Belpre boys basketball team last night with a 59-54 victory over Alexander. The boys were led in the scoring column by Nasaih Spencer with 18 while Chris Copen and Malik Currie each chipped in with 11! JV also got the victory 36-32. JV was led by Malaki Enzor with 11. Solid win from both teams and definitely something to build off of! Proud of all of you guys! Next game is at home on Friday vs Eastern.

Earlier in the week we made a post about a survey for our Food Services. The link for completing the survey has been fixed and we ask that all staff, students, and parents complete the survey for our Food Services. The link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BelpreCitySchools. You will have until December 20th to complete the survey and it is voluntary. Our Food Services people will thank you!

The Fundamentals of Coaching and Officiating Elective students had a great learning experience today at Ohio University’s Education Day. The students not only watched the women’s basketball team have a dominant performance but they also were able to hear about the roles of each of the individuals at the scorer’s table. Their teacher, Jen Wells, is the official bookkeeper for Ohio’s Women’s Basketball team. She and the students were highlighted in a segment on today’s ESPN+ broadcast. Senior Adrik McLaughlin was randomly selected to shoot a half court shot at halftime for a $1000 prize. He barely missed the shot. Thank you to Ohio University Athletics for a great day!

Please join our Performing Arts Groups for their Winter Concert on Thursday, December 5th. These students put in a lot of hard work for each performance and we would love to see the gym full of support.

Huge shoutout to Coach Austin Cunningham and his staff for their first(of many) wins as a Golden Eagle! Great defensive effort from everyone in shutting down Nelsonville York 65-47! Offensively we were led in the scoring column by Gracie Bills with 25 and Haley Alloway with 16. Great job tonight ladies and coaches! We're proud of you all! #FlyEaglesFly #BelprePride #TrueTo BHS

This weekend, 7 BHS Student Council Members traveled to Flying Horse Farms in Mt. Gilead, Ohio for the Ohio Association of Student Leaders Fall Retreat. Students were divided into councils and took part in leadership activities, team building, self discovery exercises and more with other student leaders from all over Ohio. Students participating included Roz Ensor, Bella Morrison, Liz Morrison, Lila Dugan, Calli Meredith, Chloe Brumbaugh, and Ava Brookover along with advisors, Mr. White and Miss Contillo. OASL is a wonderful opportunity for our students and we look forward to getting more students involved and nurturing their leadership skills.

On Friday, Belpre High School paid tribute to the Veterans of our community during an assembly with the theme "Dreams of Freedom". Performances by the BHS Choir, Handbell Choir and Band were enjoyed along with a moving keynote by Bob Mellon, the Voice of the Eagles. One of the Veterans in attendance, Mr. Paige Hardesty, received a packet of letters from students when he was on an Honor Flight in Washington, DC. One of the letters was written by a Belpre student when she was in 6th grade 2 years ago. At the assembly, Mr. Hardesty was able to meet the student, Balee Bland. It was a very emotional moment that showed how much the words of our students mean to our Veterans. Prior to the assembly, Veterans were treated to a luncheon that was provided by BHS staff members. Thank you to our BHS Student Council for coordinating this important day for our school and community.
