The Pride of Belpre spent the week of July 14th enduring the heat at Cedar Lakes for Band Camp 2024. This year, the band has 53 members and will be performing their show "Call of the Vikings." Of these members, there are 9 seniors who have all been in band since 7th grade! At camp, the band worked on fundamentals, music and setting the drill for the show which is a long process. They had some time for a little fun with theme days, a swim night, water games, a Christmas in July party, and an auction with some exciting swag to end the week. The band is currently rehearsing 3 days a week and will make their community debut at next week's Belpre Homecoming. Check out the Belpre Marching Band Facebook page for updates on the group and where they will be headed to competition this season.

Awesome job ladies! Really looking forward to the season! Copied from Belpre High School Volleyball: That’s a wrap on BHS Volleyball team camp! Day two brought many victories on and off the court! Group 1 played some great teams and put up a good fight against them all. The girls are working on mastering their new rotation and positions while making game corrections! They worked hard and improved each set! Group 2 ended the day with 3 wins and 1 loss (a tough 3 set match). These girls are so fun to watch! They play hard and give it their all. We are especially proud of how they persevered and came back from a deficit for a commanding victory. We have loved seeing the growth in each of these players this week. This season is going to be a good one! 🖤🏐🧡 #FlyEaglesFly #BelprePride

Day 1 of Cedar Point team camp is in the books! Our group 1 girls saw some success on the court, winning a few sets and earning compliments from other coaches. We were especially proud of them when a coach came to us and said they looked like a whole different team from the first match of the day! That is the growth we love to see. They are a strong group that we are excited to coach them this season! Groups 2 finished the day with 2 wins and 2 (hard fought) losses. These girls must really LOVE playing volleyball since they went 3 sets in every match of the day (12 sets total). So many girls stepped up and absolutely crushed it today! We are proud of how well this new group gelled, found their groove early, and worked their way through every point. Their day ended with a very satisfying win that was just fun to watch from start to finish! We can’t forget our chaperones. You name it, they did it, AND all while cheering for these girls through every point. We are lucky to have them! 🖤🏐🧡 Copied from Belpre High School Volleyball #FlyEaglesFly #BelprePride

Today’s long run took place on the Athens bike trail. After the rainy run, we had a great lunch at Larry’s Dawg House. We finished our trip with a swim in Lake Snowden. It was a fun day! The athletes having been working hard during summer conditioning so they certainly deserved it. We were missing several runners due to camps, vacations, work, etc. We are excited to have them all together soon and look forward to our next adventure in a few weeks! Belpre High School Student Council is a member of the Ohio Association of Student Leaders (OASL). This summer, we were able to send three students to the the OASL Summer Workshop at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Attending were Summer Colvin, Bella Morrison, and Lila Dugan. OASL strives to encourage leadership skills in students across the state and hosts a variety of workshops and events for students. Summer stated, "The OASL workshop was a great experience for us to learn how to become a leader, encourage us to take positive risks, and how to be yourself!" Bella reported that she "never thought she'd be able to make such close connections to people in such little time, but OASL has proved me wrong. The week taught me to never say never and believe in myself. I am so fortunate I was able to go...now I have to carry on by taking positive risks now that I'm back home. It's now or never." Students are pictures with BHS STUCO Advisor, Mr. White who attended IMPACT Day with the students. I.M.P.A.C.T stands for Inspire, Mentor, Partner, Advocate & Connect Together. Ohio IMPACT Day is a unique part of the OASL Summer Workshop program designed to connect OASL students with community leaders, educators, and organizational partners who support leadership education and development for students across Ohio. This half-day program involves a speed networking session, a camp-wide team-building activity, and a service project! Participants packed bags for families at the local Ronald McDonald House during the service project. Mr. White is serving a two-year term on the state executive board for OASL and looks forward to getting more students into activities like the ones these students attended this summer.
