Carmichael picked up the win on the mound in her varsity debut and was backed by a solid defense. Keep up the great work ladies!

Old game, new fun! Belpre Elementary School 5th grade students are applying map skills such as latitude and longitude and state location by playing the US States Battleship Game.

It's springtime...you know what that means? PROM! BHS is ready for an Enchanted Evening and all the fun that goes along with getting ready for prom.

BHS Government Day 2022 was a success! Our junior and senior government students learned about the processes and inner workings of city government, had lunch with the Rotary Club, and heard a speech from county commissioner Kevin Ritter. They even ran the city council meeting themselves. We see future council members and mayors here in these pictures!

Our Belpre Elementary first graders have been reading biographies about inventors. They were inspired to invent and write about some “Amazing Flying Machines” of their own. We love their creative thinking!

Looks like we have some artists here at Belpre! The middle and high school students were given the opportunity to showcase their artwork at Grand Central Mall in Vienna. The art display began on March 20th and will be set up until April 3rd. It is located in the center of the mall, sitting up on tables. The artwork is so amazing it would be hard to miss! When interviewed, students reported that it was an enjoyable process that motivated their creativity. They also said that it pushed them to do their best throughout the school year because they knew that a lot of people would be viewing their art work. We encourage the community to stop by and see how talented your Belpre students are!

They're off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz! Belpre Elementary first graders enjoyed the classic story and wrote about their favorite part. Check out these excellent illustrations!

Mark you calendars - our BES K-3 Family Literacy Night is back! We're inviting all Belpre Elementary kindergarten, first, second and third grade students and families to join us for an evening of food, fun, and learning on Tuesday, March 29th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Our PTO is graciously providing a free pizza dinner, and our special guest is local musician Todd Burge. Mr. Burge will entertain the children (and adults) with his creative, fun musical style - you won't want to miss it! Families can RSVP using the paper sent home earlier this week, or by calling the school office to let us know.

PSA: A SHORT STORY COMPETITION is going on at Belpre!! Do you think you can write a short fiction story in 1,500 words or less?? Well Belpre believes there is a writer in all of us and encourages all students to participate.
These are the guidelines our students are asked to follow:
1. Entries must be submitted no later than April 1, 2022 to the high school main office.
2. Your story must be an original work of fiction.
3. Word count is important!! 1,500 words or less.
4. Must include a Title page.
5. DO NOT include your name; we will announce the winner by the story's title.
6. This competition is open to all grade levels, including the junior high and high school.
Mr. William James held a Writers Workshop in the high school library on Monday, March 21st, to allow any and all participants the chance to ask questions and work on their stories. This was also an opportunity for students to sign up for the competition, if they hadn’t already. We were able to interview some of the students about their stories. When interviewed, the students stated that they are focusing on the hook, the plot and the setting of their stories. They were taught to work on building and engaging a relatable story with a conflict and an antagonist.
All submissions will be due on April 15, 2022. We believe this is a great opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity and writing skills. There will be prizes awarded to first, second and third place winners.
Belpre can’t wait to see what our students came up with and we look forward to reading each and every story!

Our symbolic monarchs have arrived in first grade! After spending the winter in Mexico, monarch butterflies have begun their spring migration north. We received symbolic monarchs from students all over North America. Our symbolic monarchs, that we made last fall, spent the winter in Mexico and now have been spotted in Idaho and North Carolina. Check out the Journey North website to learn about the real and symbolic monarchs’ migration.

Leaders growing leaders! Our fifth grade students partnered with our littlest learners to enjoy a few great books together during their weekly Reading Buddies collaboration. What a fun and engaging way to share a love for learning!

Our BES first grade students celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by showing off their measurement skills! The children worked together to make a paper chain that they used to measure different items and spaces in the school.

No luck for leprechauns in kindergarten at Belpre Elementary School today! Our kiddos have created enticing traps for the tiny gold givers - will our students capture a pot of gold?
