Our Paraprofessionals wear many hats including supporting students in and out of the classroom, helping teachers, and everything in-between! Don't forget about the Belpre Elementary PTO's School Spirit Skate Party tonight at Skate Country in Parkersburg from 6 pm - 8 pm.
Details include: $1 admission, $1 for skate rentals and Giovonni's Pizza will be available for $1 a slice. We will be awarding prizes to the top 4 students who come dressed to impress their school! We will also be doing a 50/50 drawing. Students must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the skate event. They can not be dropped off unattended. No exceptions.

Congratulations to the Belpre High School Moot Court team for their strong performance at the state Moot Court competition. Students argued whether a citizen's fourth amendment right was violated when police searched his car during a traffic stop. They received the award for the second best written brief in Ohio!
Join us at Belpre High School May 16th for the first annual Ohio Valley Robotics and Drones Competition! Area schools have been working hard to build robots and drones to compete in this event. Winners will be awarded scholarships funded by local businesses. STEM events like this help students compete in an ever changing career landscape, and Belpre High School is proud to host the first local competition!
Congratulations to Alana Zebe, who was recognized for a Chemistry Excellence award at Marietta College. The award was granted by the American Chemical Society, who asked schools in the southeast Ohio region to nominate one student who has done an outstanding job in class and shows interest in STEM beyond the classroom. Alana plans to go into electrical or chemical engineering.
Students from Mrs. Calaway's Environmental Biology class and Mr. Williams' Global Issues class visited the Columbus Zoo to personally experience learning connected to the curriculum for those classes. Mr. Williams' class has been learning about habitat destruction and its impact on animals and people living in those areas. Mrs. Calaway's Environmental Biology class focuses on species extinction and the importance of maintaining biodiversity.

Congratulations to Mrs. Mary Miller, the Ohio Department of Education's 2023 TORCH Award winner! Mrs. Miller is one of a select few educators in the state of Ohio receiving the Teachers of Ohio Representing Character and Heart award. She lovingly facilitates the Leader In Me program at Belpre Elementary School, investing in the growth and development of every student in the building. Mrs. Miller is an exemplary educator, and we are forever grateful for the way she serves the children of Belpre City Schools. Congratulations!
Belpre Athletics wouldn't be the same without the hard work of these young men. Barry Cheuvront, Bob Melon, Kevin Mayle, and Mike Werry all volunteer so much of their time for the fall and winter sports seasons. They bring professionalism, hard work, and many years of experience to the athletic department and are such a valuable part of our team!

Belpre High School's PPD class participated in Marietta College's Jr. PioBiz. We had five teams participating in a trade show/Shark Tank competition. Our students came in second, third and fifth places. There was a judging component and a people's choice competent. They are thankful to the staff and family members that came and voted.

The Belpre Drama Club will be hosting a spring musical, Emma: A Pop Musical JV by Eric Price. The musical stars Emma, a senior at Highbury Prep school, who loves to matchmake everyone around her starting with her friend Harriet. The musical has a strong ensemble and cast of characters that navigates high school, love, social status, and economic differences. The musical is based on the Jane Austen novel, Emma, and features pop songs from famous girl bands and iconic women artists including Katy Perry, Shania Twain, and Avril Lavigne. There will be performances on the 21st of April at 7:00 p.m. and on the 22nd of April at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.. Contact the director, Kate Austin, at bc_kaustin@belpre.k12.oh.us with any questions. Pre-sales are through the high school office and tickets will be sold at the door before each performance. Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for veterans, and $10 for adults.
